Emirates' Optimism for Robust Recovery in 2023 Summer Travel Season

 | Emirates Expresses Strong Recovery Optimism as It Adds New Airbus A380s to Its Summer Flights Schedule

Emirates is gearing up for a strong recovery in the summer travel season of 2023, with robust customer demand levels exceeding the levels recorded in 2022. According to Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Chief Commercial Officer, the airline is deploying a fleet of 85 Airbus A380s, which will increase to 95 in the summer peak season by the end of the financial year in March 2024.

Emirates has added five new Airbus A380s to its summer flights schedule, aiming to serve more routes amidst the continuing momentum in customer demand following the COVID-19 pandemic. Kazim affirmed that the large wide-body airliner will be serving 43 destinations in the summer flights schedule.

The airline operates about 3,080 departure flights per week or more than 440 flights per day for passengers within its global network. The carrier is currently considering adding more capacity to the North American market and other global markets such as China, in conjunction with the deployment of more aircraft into service and the delivery of the first aircraft from its order for the Airbus A350.

Emirates has a sustainable approach, with initiatives taking place in the UAE to reduce its carbon footprint, in line with the growth in passenger numbers. The airline has successfully completed a demonstration flight powered by 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), as part of the global aviation industry's push to use more of the greener fuel to meet carbon emission targets. The airline also recycled 500,000 kg of plastic and glass discarded on board flights.

At the Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2023) in Dubai, Emirates received 16,000 visitors, held 300 business meetings, and signed eight agreements with travel and tourism agencies. The airline's plan for 2023 summer travel season includes debuting flights to five new cities, namely London, Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland, in addition to San Francisco, Singapore, and Houston.

Emirates is optimistic about the future, and the airline's addition of five new Airbus A380s to its summer flights schedule is evidence of its belief in the strong recovery of the aviation industry. With the airline's commitment to sustainability and expansion, Emirates continues to be a leading player in the global airline industry.
